With an ageing population and an increasing proportion of older medical professionals, the need for technologies that support the work ability and health of medical professionals is becoming increasingly urgent.
Exoskeletons offer promising opportunities to reduce physical strain and improve the fine motor skills of older professionals. The targeted use of such technologies could improve employees' ability to work and quality of life and reduce absenteeism due to health restrictions.
However, there are currently only limited ergonomic aids for clinical use, which underlines the potential of innovative technologies such as exoskeletons.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Aim of the project and project content<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The joint project \"BiSOP\" is researching the development of methods and technologies that can be used to develop suitable aids to improve ergonomics in the operating room in the long term. One promising approach is a hand exoskeleton that can be used in a variety of ways in everyday clinical practice.
The aim is to actively support the hand and fingers during movements as well as strength and endurance requirements. To this end, a rigid basic structure for movement guidance and force absorption is being researched. The kinematics are based on the natural movement of the hand, with the aim of achieving a compact system design so as not to impair handling during surgery.<\/p>

To this end, innovative haptic sensors for control and a coordinated, low-energy drive concept are also to be designed and validated. Resource-efficient manufacturing processes for the exoskeleton will also be considered in the course of this.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
