Project content
Based on the current state of the art, in which water electrolysis has already demonstrated technological maturity in operation but is still operating on a manufacture basis in production, the overarching goal, within the framework of the funding call 'Ideas Competition Hydrogen Republic of Germany' in Germany to lay the foundations for automated series production of water electrolysers for plants up to the gigawatt range within a very short time. create.
The research project "H2Giga" aims at the concept development of a fully automated 200MW factory including necessary infrastructure and CAPEX/OPEX analyses as well as their optimization.
Research interests:
The project "Series production of large-scale HTEL modules" is divided into three modules, in which (1) the upscaling of the electrolyzer modules and (2) the further development of the production processes and equipment for series production take place. Building block 3 links the work with the topics of the technology platform and the topics of the innovation pool.
Targets
- Process design to increase annual production from current 7 MW to 200 MW in 2025.
- Reduction of module manufacturing costs by 70 % to < 400 EUR/kW (excl. stack)
- Reduction of maintenance costs by 80 %
- Increase in efficiency by 2 %
